Electric Pump Espresso Machine, What To Look For

July 30, 2010 by admin

So you have decided that you would like to purchase a home electric pump espresso machine.  The only problem is, is that you don’t have the first idea of what to look for to make sure you get a quality machine. There are some items that you should think about before you pay your money.

How the machine is put together is also a consideration to think about.  It should feel like it has some weight to it and that the components are heavy duty and not just a hunk of plastic that will break over time.  An example of a quality constructed machine is the Delonghi Caffe Nero BCO264B.

You will also want to know about the brewing and steaming temperatures.  Ideally the machine will have separate thermostats for each.  The steaming temperature should be 260 degrees and the brewing should take place at 195 degrees.

In order to attain the temperatures needed to brew and steam you will want to make sure that the espresso machine that your thinking of purchasing provides at a minimum 750 watts of power.

Additionally, to achieve great espresso drinks and coffee, you’ll want an extraction pressure of 6-9 atmospheres.  This might be stated as 90-130 P.S.I., with 130 P.S.I. being the perfect pressure.

The porta filter is another concern.  I have seen some really cheap and lightweight porta filters.I personally would require it to have some heft to it not unlike a commercial one.

When you look at the steam wand you’ll want one that swivels and can fit the steaming pitcher under it easily.

A few other items to look for are the size of the water bin, whether or not the pump is self priming, and if there are status lights to let you know if the water is done heating or if the power is on or off.

These are just some of the basic things to look for in an electric pump home espresso machine.  My personal favorite machine is the DeLonghi Caffe Nero combination espresso machine. The combination machine is an excellent choice if you have differing tastes in your home regarding coffee drinks.

Burr Coffee Grinders Versus Electric Blade Coffee Grinders

July 30, 2010 by admin

If you are thinking of purchasing a coffee grinder there are primarily two kinds, the burr coffee grinder and the electric blade coffee grinder.  I will be writing about what each type does and how it operates, so you can decide which is the best purchase for your home.

The lesser expensive of the two kinds of coffee grinders is the blade grinder.  The electric version was introduced into the U.S. market in the 1950s.  Some say that this type of coffee grinder is similar to a small electric blender.

If you are goint to make an espresso drink using this kind of grinder you won’t be able to get the exact grind that is necessary because this type of grinder has no grind settings.

On the other hand blade grinders are inexpensive and quick.  You can grind beans for regular drip coffee in about 25 seconds.A drawback for this quickness however is that the flavor of the bean can be destroyed due to the heat from the blades.
The second type of grinder is the burr coffee grinder which is a bit more expensive but will provide a much better grind for specialty drinks such as cappuccino and lattes.

Burr type grinder like the grinder in the Gaggia Titanium SS espresso machine have correctly flake the coffee bean little by little using rough metal plates.  The wheels of the grinder turn slowly which keeps the heat to a minimum and thus exposing the beans to the most surface area for extracting the oils.

Most quality grinders of this type will have a dosing mechanism that will measure the amount of ground beans to be placed into the porta filter of your espresso machine.

One thing to keep in mind however is that if you use your burr grinder to grind flavored beans that it might flavor the burrs and cause your regular beans to take on a different flavor. It’s nearly impossible to get the burr wheels all of the way clean.

Now days when you purchase an espresso machine a lot of them, for example the Gaggia Titanium coffee machine 90500 will come with a quality burr grinder built right in.

A Household Necessity – Electric Coffee Makers

July 29, 2010 by admin

homes Mmmm, there’s nothing better than a cup of coffee that fills your house with its unmistakable aroma. Although people around the world have been making and drinking coffee for centuries (it originates from Ethiopia), it wasn’t until 1972 that electric coffee makers became available for use in the home or office. These coffee makers revolutionized the way people make coffee, turning the coffee making process into a quick and easy affair. Although there are plenty of ways to make coffee without electricity, automatic coffee makers are definitely the most convenient, hassle-free way of making a great cup of coffee quickly and easily.

Real Estate Coffee at a slow drip

Perhaps the most well known of the coffee makers, the drip coffee maker is in most kitchens in the US, as well as in most hotel rooms. There’s a whole variety that will allow you to make 1 cup, 6 or 12 cup pots, to semi programmable machines that can produce coffee to a schedule. Becoming more popular is the style that produces vacuum coffee pots that don’t need the heating element to keep the coffee warm.

The basis of the drip coffee maker is very simple. Coffee is placed in a filter basket and hot water is slowly passed through the grounds to produce the coffee. The filter basket is usually lined with a filter paper, but there are some that use a fine mesh instead. Whilst these are more eco-friendly (and you’ll never run out of filter papers) they may occasionally let some of the ground through.

These machines can produce a good cup of coffee reasonably quickly and cheaply but you’d never mistake it for espresso. If your set on getting an espresso on a budget then the next category may be for you.

Back to the Future With Stove Top Percolators

If you travel through Europe; Italy especially, then these are coffee makers you’ll find in most homes. The stove top percolator is a multi part pot that goes onto the stove to produce an excellent cup of coffee in the espresso style. You may even get the crema effect using one of these makers and all it takes is 5 – 10 minutes which is the same as a drip machine. There are more modern versions that use electricity but part of the charm of these coffee makers is their simplicity and the fact that there’s almost nothing to go wrong with it.

Just fill the bottom part of the percolator with cold water, the filter basket with coffee (generally with an espresso grind) and place on the stove. The hot water percolates up through the coffee grounds and collects it the top. When the makes starts to gurgle, take it off the heat and serve an excellent cup of coffee.

These coffee makers are cheap, easy to use and last a long time if taken care of. The down side is that they produce small amounts of coffee (a 6 cup machine will typically produce the equivalent of 3 -4 shots of espresso) and care needs to be taken when cleaning them.

juegos Special cultivation and processing methods give the coffee bean its uniquely individual flavors. Take for instance the Peaberry beans are in actuality a mutated form of the coffee bean while the highly coveted Kopi Luwak is that of civet cat coffee diet excretion.

Is a Genuine Espresso Possible?

At the very pinnacle of coffee makers is the espresso coffee maker. These machines are the most expensive and can be the most hi tech. They range in price from a couple of hundred dollars to several thousand for a top of the line machine. So is paying the extra worth it? To be honest that really depends on your coffee drinking habits.

If all you drink is the occasional espresso then a lower end pure espresso maker will fit the bill. If you’re a more regular drinker and want a mix of styles then a combination coffee and espresso maker will probably suit you better.

Many of these coffee makers are fairly complex machines, some with many options and abilities. The down side of this is that there is a lot more to go wrong and they do wear out. A proper espresso maker will push hot water through the coffee at fairly high pressure so they don’t last forever, so take care if you’re looking at the low end of the budget scale.

It may make more sense to pay a little more for an espresso coffee maker that is well made and will last longer than the cheaper models You can be published without charge. You can to republish this article in your website or blog. Please provide links Active.

Nespresso Essenza – Benefit And Information About This Espresso Machine

July 28, 2010 by admin

I live in Italy and I have to say that after being in Italy for 7 years, I finally discovered how to make the perfect cappuccino at home. This nespresso essenza could make a cappuccino exactly how I would get it at my neighborhood coffee bar. The machine makes a dense rich espresso with a nice cream on top and the aeroccino makes a perfect thick foam. The aeroccino also heats the milk to the perfect temperature, and you can quickly and easily clean up this machine. The machine is little in size which is a plus in a tiny Italian kitchen. At first I wasn’t so convinced on being committed to buying only Nespresso capsules, first for the price and second for the quality of coffee. Then I recalculated that I spend 1.10 euro at the bar every morning compared to .34 euro for make it at home….hence a definite savings. Plus the quality of coffees they offer (12 varieties in total) happens to be excellent! I’ve noticed that all of the Italians here also have this espresso machine in house. So if the Italians say it’s good, and they’re passionate about their food and drink, it’s got to be good. I’ve owned several machines over the years and compare to other machine that i had, this one is truly THE BEST!!

Nespresso Essenza C-100 Espresso Machine is simply amazing. Nespresso essenza is specially designed for coffee filled capsules. The single serve automatic espresso machine prepares a perfect cup of espresso by perforating the sealed capsule and soaking all the ground coffee to optimally filter the coffee, while its high pressure 19 bar pump fully extracts the aromas and gives body to the Espresso. This ensures a smooth creamy top layer. With its unique extraction system designed specifically for coffee-filled capsules, this single-serve automatic espresso machine prepares a perfect cup of espresso every time. The unit perforates the hermetically sealed capsule and soaks all the ground coffee to optimally filter the coffee, while its high-pressure 19-bar pump fully extracts the aromas and gives body to the espresso, ensuring a smooth crema–the delicious creamy layer on top. In addition, the machine’s ThermoBlock heating system heats water to an ideal extraction temperature, and the amount of coffee in the cup can be controlled automatically or programmed in (40 ml for espresso; 110 ml for lungo) with simple coffee-volume buttons. Used capsules eject automatically into the used-capsule collection container (14-capsule capacity) upon lifting the lever on top of the unit.

Several information that you should know for about Nespresso Essenza

The Nespresso C100 US-AERO-B Essenza automatic single-serve espresso machine is a great machine for the busy home as it is so simple to use and it brews coffee goodness in no time.

To brew an espresso, just fill up the water reservoir, turn the machine on, drop in a Nespresso capsule into the machine, wait for the lights, and push the espresso or latte button. That is as complicated as it gets! And if you want a latte, you just froth up the milk using the milk frother which comes with dosage indicators inside the jug which make it easy to measure for the milk. The frother can also be used to make hot milk for a hot chocolate as well. The design of this machine has also been very thought out, and it also comes with a stay-cool handle, drip-free spout, and cordless design (lifts off its power base) to ensure a graceful and no mess pour into your cup.

The Nespresso Essenza uses the pod system, meaning you have to buy the Nespresso coffee capsules, rather than buying any ground coffee from the supermarket. This may turn people away from this machine, but bear in mind, that this means less cleaning! The pods come in a variety of different flavors and each cup of espresso costs around $0.52 per cup compared to $0.30 for ground coffee. In my opinion, the extra $0.22 per cup to not have to clean, is worth it. Also, the coffee tastes so good, you won’t need to stop by the cafe on your way to work to get your caffeine fix, so in a couple of months, this Nespresso Essenza C100 should pay for itself.

With its sleek design, the Nespresso C100-US-AERO-B Essenza takes up minimal counter space in your kitchen and in my opinion, a necessary addition to any caffeine addicted household.

For the “cappuccino” button, you also select how long you want milk to be used (in seconds) but you can determine how much coffee you’d like to be dispensed (in ounces) as well. In addition to volume, you can program each brewing button for temperature and strength by using the rotary dial menu as you would above.

You can also modify the preset coffee strength and liquid volume settings during the brewing cycle by using the rotary dial. To adjust the strength of your coffee, turn the dial before brewing. La Pavoni PA 1200 – Perfect Espresso Machine

July 26, 2010 by admin

For the real espresso lover, it can take deep searching to find the machine that will make the hearty, rich espresso true coffee connoisseurs desire. The La Pavoni PA-1200 Napolitana Stainless Steel Automatic Espresso Machine ends the long search for the perfect machine. You will not find a machine that will make a tastier espresso.

The La Pavoni PA-1200 is the perfect machine for both the beginning espresso drinker to the experienced coffee aficionado. The La Pavoni heats up quickly, so it is great if you need a caffeine pick-me-up before heading out the door in the morning. The brass boiler, brass head, and filter holder keep the La Pavoni Pa 1200 ready for use. The steam function allows for a rich froth for very delicious cappuccinos.

Some complaints on the La Pavoni PA 1200 Napolitana include the noise from the grinder, which can be loud and bothersome. The grinder can also be messy, if you don’t keep the filter tipped backwards; the reservoir can also be a little tight to refill. However, these complaints are greatly outweighed most users’ agreement that the La Pavoni makes the most authentic espresso of any espresso machine.

La Pavoni Napolitana PA 1200 Espresso Machine features: stainless steel baskets; built-in conical bur grinder and coffee press for ease in operation; 16 bars of pressure for the richest tasting espresso; 100 oz water reservoir allows you to make a little or a lot; removable drip trays for easy cleaning,; marine brass boiler for an authentic espresso taste.

I brewed a perfect espresso the first time I used the machine, and am getting a little better with each one. I like the fact that I can make adjustments with the grinder, and adjust how much pressure I use with the tamper, and thereby have control over the quality of my crema, and the strength of the coffee. Even though I am a novice barrista, I like the fact that this machine allows me to learn and get better.

The quality of the machine seems perfect. The stainless steel looks great and is easy to clean. The portafilter is heavy and stays hot for a very long time. The steam frother works perfectly. The grinder is quite noisy, but I’ve never used one that wasn’t. I look forward to using this machine for many years.
